Welcome to Pacifikana - YOUR VOICE - your website to meet new friends, find out information about the army and the country you live in! And most importantly, to find out about fellow Fijians who are in trouble and who may have been unfairly treated. Pacifikana gives Fijians a voice to share their experiences, good and bad, and discuss issues they may be facing here in the UK, Germany or other countries in which they are based. The main purpose of this website is to create awareness about discriminatory issues that Fijians could face and to afford them the opportunity to speak out and take a stand against inequity. Fijians have a strong sense of community and are often unaware of what is happening to their fellow countrymen who are in different regiments, cities or countries. As a minority group it is important to connect and help each other. Living away from home is not easy, especially for those facing trouble and a lack of knowledge about the legal system, culture and language barriers often pose as further difficulties. Minority groups are easily victimised and blamed. Pacifikana wants to help those in trouble by relaying their heart-rending stories; we realise there are many of you with dashed hopes and realise that any of us could, unexpectedly, find ourselves in a trying situation. Something as seemingly insignificant as a bar fight coupled with false accusations, a lack of respect and racial abuse could end your career quickly and you could find yourself in jail facing deportation or living illegally in the UK. Please check our DO'S AND DONT'S page for more information. We'd love to hear your FEEDBACK and topics of interest. You can keep everyone up-to-date about current events on our shared CALENDAR and if you'd like to meet new people and make friends please sign up to our DATABASE so others can contact you. We hope that you will find this website useful and informative and look forward to hearing from you. |
