Only the individual enrolled in the British Army can work. It is hard for the spouse to find work in Germany if they are a non-European citizen. Therefore, most spouses will not be able to work and add to the family's income.
But this gives them the chance to enrol in courses in the Volkshochschule (VHS), learn German and to make new friends.
