On the 4th of September 2006 Gunner Samuela Vanua, from the Royal Artillery, was killed in Iraq by a roadside bomb. He left Fiji and joined the British army in April 2002 and was posted in Germany after his basic training. He was 27 years old when he was killed, just north of Basra City.
