The British Army has an incredible history of fighting all over the world. Britain has many famous people such as Wellington and incredible battle stories to tell, like the Battle of Waterloo.
Today, soldiers are deployed all over the world on various operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and also in Cyprus, the Falkland Islands, Belize, Kosovo and Northern Ireland, just to mention a few.
The army recruits from within and outside the UK and aims to recruit 25000 soldiers a year. The number of Commonwealth soldiers is increasing and Fijians make up the largest group of these, currently around 1900 soldiers. Overall, the army has soldiers from more than 50 countries, ranging from Jamaican to South African.
Each soldier entering the British army has to swear the Oath of Allegiance, to protect the Queen and obey her orders.
The army is a huge workplace with a wide variety of posts to fill. We hope you enjoy your stay in the army and make the most of your career and time there.
Please remember, however, that trouble can end your army career very quickly.
